Romeo marche seul, il s'en va d'un bon pas.
Au sommet d'une butte, il regarde là-bas :
Il ne peut résister, il lui faut emporter
L'image de la ville où il a tant aimé.
Le soleil se couchant compose une couronne
De lumière et de feu aux toits de sa Vérone.
Avant de s'enfoncer dans la nuit éternelle
Une dernière fois il implore le ciel.
Mais le ciel reste noir où pleurent les étoiles.
Mais le ciel reste noir. Que pleurent les étoiles !
